The Grand Prix weekend becomes even more captivating with the imminent and highly debated Sprint Race.

Amidst the myriad of conversations dominating the weekend, one clear observation is the evident improvements displayed by various teams, particularly considering the lap times set by each driver during Free Practice. This impressive showing subtly suggests the possibility of an outsider claiming victory at the Grand Prix.

With this in mind, Sports Brief shifts its focus to a list of drivers who could clinch victory at the Miami race.

Miami Grand Prix likely winners

Max Verstappen

The Red Bull Racing driver is unquestionably the frontrunner to secure victory at the Miami race. The Dutch driver, who has triumphed in the previous two editions of the Grand Prix, has once again demonstrated his determination to achieve a hat-trick of victories with his remarkable performance in Free Practice.

As reported by RBR Daily, the three-time World Champion set the fastest lap time of the weekend thus far – 1:28.595.

Sergio Perez

The Mexican is another driver largely tipped for victory. Perez has, in the past, shown his brilliance, especially when racing on street circuits, and the Miami race offers the Red Bull driver another opportunity to demonstrate his remarkable skill behind the wheel.

Lando Norris

Although he is yet to secure a race victory, the McLaren driver has shown promise on numerous occasions and has come agonisingly close to winning races.

With the array of upgrades McLaren brings to the Miami race, the British driver could be in with a chance of clinching victory.

Charles Leclerc

The Monegasque driver is seeking his first victory since the 2022 Australian Grand Prix. Leclerc will be hoping to end his victory drought with the special blue livery that Ferrari will be donning for the Miami race.

Carlos Sainz

The Spanish driver undoubtedly ranks among the most impressive drivers of the 2024 season so far. As the only driver besides Verstappen to have secured a race victory this season, the 29-year-old could fancy his chances of clinching another win.

Sainz is also without a seat for the 2025 season, and he is aiming to put in an impressive showing to secure a place on the grid for 2025.

Things to expect at the Miami GP
