Messi makes history with two MLS records

He recorded the most goal contributions in a single match in MLS history with six. He also broke the mark for the most assists in a single MLS contest with five against the Red Bulls, per Sporting News.

Luis Suarez and Matias Rojas benefited from Messi's record-breaking assist night. Suarez logged his first career hat-trick in the MLS, scoring goals in the 68th, 75th, and 81st minutes.

Rojas came off the bench to score a brace, netting goals in the 48th and 62nd minutes. These were the club's new signing's first two goals.

What made Messi's feat so impressive was that he recorded all six goal involvements in the second half. He went berserk, helping Inter Miami erase a 1-0 deficit, per Yahoo Sports.

Dante Vanzeir opened the scoring for New York with an impressive counter-attack goal in the 30th minute.

The Red Bulls were fortunate to hold a 1-0 lead at the interval as Inter Miami wasted several goal-scoring opportunities in the opening half. That all changed in the second half, with Messi wreaking havoc once more.

With the victory, Inter Miami moved three points clear at the top of the Eastern Conference standings.

Messi boosts Inter Miami with monster April

Sports Brief recently reported on Messi's incredible performances for Inter Miami last April.

He made an instant impact after returning from injury, recording six goals and four assists last month.
